The Arc’s Family Support Services:

*Information and Referral:

Confused? Don’t know where to go or who to ask? We can help. Guidance, advocacy, public education and consultation are provided to the community on an individual and confidential basis. Call ext. 2258.

*Case Management:

Does the ‘system’ get to you? Are agencies giving you the run-around? Do you need a hand accessing needed services and supports? We can help. Call ext. 2258.

*Support Groups:

The Arc conducts a support group in partnership with Mom 2 Mom. Call ext. 2270 for a schedule of meeting times and locations.

*Companion Services:

Would you like to have a companion for your family member with a disability? We can match trained staff with individuals with disabilities and also provide the opportunity for families to directly hire their own companion. Call us and find out about our help at Home Program. Call ext. 2274.

*Advocacy Network:

The advocacy of families and individuals with disabilities is responsible for the opportunities, services and supports we have today. You can continue the movement. Join our network. Keep abreast of legislation and regulatory issues that may affect you and your family, write letters, speak out. Call ext. 2258.

*Family Information Meetings:

The Arc’s meetings, seminars and webinars offer information on a variety of subjects. Learn about services, supports and issues. Call ext. 2258 or check our website for information on scheduled events.

*Self-Hired Respite Programs:

Arc’s Self-Hired Respite programs are designed to provide respite services to families who wish to recruit and hire their respite worker of choice. Based upon a referral from the Department of Children & Families (DCF) vi Perform Care, families of children under 21 will be allocated a number of hours of service per 90 day period. Once the respite has occurred, The Arc will reimburse the cost of the respite up to the number of hours allotted at the rate designated by DCF. The Arc’s Family Support Department: is dedicated to serving and supporting families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc is a private, not for profit association which has been serving individuals with disabilities and their families for over 65 years. Founded in 1947 by parents of children with disabilities, The Arc has been and continues to be a consumer and family driven organization. The Arc is multi-service agency dedicated to:

*promoting and advocating for the rights and welfare of individuals with disabilities and their families.

*providing early intervention to assist infants and children with developmental delays in developing their full potential.

*assisting families of individuals with disabilities by providing support and resources to build on their strengths and help them face challenges.

I have started two new blog sites for the fire department, one "EngineOneHasbrouck HeightsFireDepartmentnj" for the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department to discuss what our Engine Company is doing and the other is "BergenCountyFireman'sHomeAssociation" for the Bergen County Fireman's Association, which fire fighters from Bergen County, NJ, go to the Fireman's Home in Boonton, NJ to bring entertainment and cheer to our fellow brother fire fighters quarterly.
