PSE&G Time of Use rate

PSE&G Time of Use rate

PSE&G is committed to advancing energy affordability and giving customers more control over how they manage their electric costs. Our new Time of Use rate (RS-TOU 3P) offers a practical option for residential customers who can shift certain electric use to lower-cost hours throughout they day.

TOU is a three tier electric rate with charges based on the time of day: off peak, mid-peak and on-peak. Electricity used during off-peak and mid-peak hours is charged at lower rates, while electricity used during on-peak hours is charged at a higher rate. There are no on-peak hours during weekends and holidays.

The TOU rate could be particularly beneficial for customers with an electric vehicle (EV), where charging can be schedules off-peak. Customers who don’t own an EV could also benefit by shifting the use of dishwashers, washers and electric dryer and swimming pool pumps to off-peak periods. The choice is yours. Moving to the new TOU rate is voluntary and while it may be a good choice for some customers, it may not be the right choice for everyone.

If you think TOU is right for you, you can try it for the first 12 months risk-free. Switch from you current Residential Service (RS) electric rate to the TOU rate. If, after the first 12 months, you do not realize savings compared to the RS rate, we will automatically credit your account for the difference. You can also switch back to the RS rate at that time.

Visit pseg.com/TOU for:

*TOU hours for weekdays and weekends/holidays.

*Pricing charts for each tier.

*Tops to maximize your savings.

*Directions and a link to enroll via MyMeter, where you can also estimate your protentional savings.

*Current Residential Load Management (RLM) rate customers may switch to the TOU Rate, but cannot switch back to RLM in the future. If you do not realize savings after the first 12 months, we will automatically credit your account for the difference. You would then have the option to stay on TOU or switch to the RS rate.

*Bloggers note: This information was taken directly from the PSE&G pamphlet and I do not use the service. So I do not have an option on the service. Please contact PSE&G for more information on the program.
